Leave campaign won the EU referendum

The Britain decided to leave the EU in the historic referendum to determine the future of its EU membership. The Leave gets around 52 percent and Remain 48 percent votes. Leave got more than 17 million votes and Remain got nearly 16 million votes. Official results still to be announced. The turnout was 72.1 percent, the highest in any elections since 1992. The victory margin is around 1.2 million votes.

The London, Manchester,Liverpool, Bristol, York and some other small cities, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted in favour of remain. Birmingham, Midlands, South and East regions voted in favour of Leaving. There is clear divide between big cities with the exception of Birmingham, and rest of England. London is the only region where remain won. All other regions went to Leave. The Remain showed poor performance than expected  in North and South regions. The 40 areas where race was even at 50% each, went to Leave and pave the way for victory.

Remain also get much lower vote in some other regions where the margin of victory for leave is bigger than expected.
