1400 daily Wages Postal Workers Sacked

Post office authorities have sacked the 1400 postal workers, working on daily wages basis from last many Years. One sacked worker describe the situation in these words “we worked for this department and served the people for years, but they have sacked us for no reason and through our families in abject poverty and hunger. The sacked workers have announced to fight back and decided to launch a protest campaign. TURCP members are involved in this campaign. They are not only helping the sacked workers to organize protest campaign, but also helping them in legal battle. TURCP helping them to hire an advocate to challenge these sackings in a court.

These sackings are part of the policies adopted by the Musharaf regime at the behest of International Imperialist Financial institutions like World Bank and IMF. The Musharaf regime has launched vicious attacks against the working class. His regime implementing the anti working class policies of Privatization, retrenchments, anti union and worker legislation, downsizing Etc. Specially postal workers are constantly on the receiving end, because Musharaf regime appointed a ex- military general as head of the postal services in 2000. He had introduced many anti workers policies in last 5 years. He has sacked more than 300 trade union activists and leaders on false charges in that period.

TURCP has launched the campaign for the reinstatement of these 1400 postal workers. TURCP will organize protest demonstrations in all the big cities next week. TURCP is also planning to organize a big public meeting involving all the major trade unions in the country.
